PJM-PCEC Bishops and Leaders’ Summit in Palawan

The historic Bishops and Leaders’ Summit finally happened last July 3-6, 2012 at Legend Hotel in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. More than 40 key bishops and leaders from the Philippines for Jesus Movement (PJM) and the Philippines Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC) came together for a four day retreat and fellowship to seek the Lord together and strengthen unity and friendship with each other. This much awaited and prayed for ground-breaking event was in response to the prophetic directive given to Bishop “Kuya” Dan Balais, the CLSF Senior Pastor and Spiritual Director and concurrently the National Chairman of the Intercessors for the Philippines (IFP) and at the same National Director of the Philippines for Jesus Movement (PJM). Bro. Wyden Sister Antonia King of the NFS Ministries, the owner of Legend Hotel Palawan were so generous to host and sponsor the leaders’ summit making sure the bishops and leaders will have an enjoyable, comfortable and fruitful stay in the beautiful island province of Palawan, the home of the world famous Underground River, voted as one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

The Bishops and Leaders’ Summit was a result of a four month long process of initiating reconciliation, unity and relationship building among the top leaders and umbrella ministries of the Body of Christ as the Lord has directed Kuya Dan and the IFP by His prophets who came to the Philippines in recent years. The first of such directive was given by Prophet Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj two years ago during the Jubilee Proclamation at Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) in March 2010 that led to the reconciliation and unprecedented foot-washing between PJM and PCEC bishops last April 24, 2010. This prophetic directive was followed up recently by Prophet Robert Misst when he relayed to Kuya Dan and the IFP leadership last April this year, the need to go further and beyond the reconciliation and foot washing and forge a strong unity and working together as one to vigorously pursue God’s prophetic agenda for the nation in this crucial hour. Prophet Robert Misst added that the Philippines right now is standing at a forked road of either destruction and captivity or destiny and blessing. Because of many prayers and intercessions coupled with the submissions or petitions of the prophets, the Lord gave us a moratorium of three years to lay the foundations of unrelenting prayers (24HHP) throughout the land and the genuine, strong and lasting unity in the whole Body of Christ. With the leaders of key umbrella groups of churches like PCEC and the PJM and the massive prayer movement being accelerated by IFP and NFS, the long awaited revival, evangelization and transformation of the Philippines to be a righteous, blessed and missionary-sending nation is within reach more than any other time in our history. Indeed, the Jubilee season, the season of God’s grace and mercy is working for us!

Among the key leaders who attended from PJM were Bishop Bro. Eddie Villanueva, founding Chairman Emiritus of PJM and Spiritual Director of Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide; Bishop “Kuya” Dan Balais, National Director of PJM; Bishop Leo Alconga, National Chairman of PJM together with PJM Board members Bishop Joshua Blas, Pastor Domeng Rivera, Pastor Archie de Villa, Pastor Francis Nicolas, Pastor Fred Cea, Pastor Romy Suela, Pastor Jun Sebanico. The representatives of PCEC were Bishop Ef Tendero, PCEC National Director; PCEC Board members: Bishop Ely Mercado of Christian Catholic Churches; Bishop Noel Pantoja of Greenhills Christian Fellowship (GCF); Bishop Peter Tanchi of Christ Commission Fellowship (CCF); Bishop Manny Carlos of Victory Christian Fellowship (VCF); Bishop Chito Sanchez; Bishop Rey Pe Benito; Bishop Oriel Ballano of G12; Bishop Jonel Milan; Bishop Mark Ligero of Church of God; Rev.Dr. Nomer Bernardino; Bro. Rheo Lucero of YWAM, Bishop Ancho Buenaventure of Life Church of Palawan and Bishop Joel Ranel of Southern Baptist Church. IFP was represented by Pastor Ed de Guzman, IFP Vice Chairman; Pastor Joel Bataclan, Pastor Ralph Magalit, Pastor Butch de leon and Pastor Joshua Bontogon. NFS was represented by Bro. Wyden King, Sis, Antonia King; Pastor Nate Yage and Pastor Stanley Vergara. TNO was represented by Bro Joseph Lee (Pastor Ben Yu). Many more key ministry and church leaders complete the selected leaders of more than 40 leaders. Interestingly, Kuya Caleb Londonio of CLSF, now working as Legend Hotel Staff, facilitated our morning Team Building Sessions together with his supervisor.

The bishops and leaders enjoyed a rare time of fellowship, bonding, team building activities, tour to some of the beautiful spots in Palawan like the world famous Underground River, the Bacungan River Mangrove Tour; the beautiful white sand beach of Pandan Island, Honda Bay tour and some other spots of the bustling City Puerto Princesa. It is noteworthy to mention that Palawan is fast becoming one of the hottest tourist destinations in the world. From a mere two flights a day some few years ago, Puerto Princesa Airport now registers 22 flights a day. The Mayor of Puerto Princesa- Mayor Hagedorn joined the summit delegates for dinner together with a breath-taking song and dance cultural presentation and expensive L.E.D. screen video presentation of the history and sustainable development of beautiful nature endowments of Palawan. The following night was the turn of the governor of Palawan, Governor Abraham “Bam” Mitra to greet and welcome the delegates of the summit and also give us a cultural presentation during our dinner. Bro. Eddie Villanueva and Kuya Dan prayed for both officials.

The group had a good, ample time of worship and prayers during the whole stay in the Dawn Prayers and devotions from 6am-8am every day. All meals were sumptuous buffet. The afternoons were spent in plenary and workshop sessions where the bishops and leaders were shown videos of the 490 Year Jubilee and the recent prophetic messages of the prophets. The group was divided into five teams for the team building and workshop-discussion sessions. It is remarkable how the whole group blended together and bonded in true spirit of love and friendship. Several points addressing some key concerns in the Body of Christ were addressed with a commitment to work together to pursue God’s prophetic agenda for the Philippines. For one, the Bishops and leaders unanimously agreed to be involved in the 24 Hour Houses of Prayers; help unite the whole Body of Christ in the Philippines and together mobilize the Philippine Church towards massive evangelization, discipleship, spiritual and moral transformation, missions and united advocacies in the area of righteousness, justice, mercy and truth!

The final day was highlighted with a mighty outpouring of God’s presence as Bro. Eddie gave an impassionate appeal to unite to purify the Body of Christ and prepare the Bride of Christ to walk in righteousness and holiness. Bishop “Kuya” Dan, being the main initiator of this prophetically mandated Summit stood to follow up on the message of Bro. Eddie and were led to give a short exhortation on “What House Will We build for God” based on Acts 7: 49. Suddenly, there was a powerful flow of God’s prophetic word, convicting all the leaders of our pride, division, desire for vain glory and the sins of the priests and prophets in accordance to Ezek 22: 23-30. Then, as if a dam was breached and broken, sudden spontaneous loud cries of repentance from the bishops and leaders filled the session hall as all humbled themselves in deep repentance of personal sins, the sins of the spiritual leaders of the land. Kuya Dan, overwhelmed by the presence of God, called Bro. Eddie Villanueva and Bishop Ef Tendero and the Board members of both Body to come to the front and represent PJM and PCEC respectively to ask the Lord’s cleansing and forgiveness. After long intimate moments of repentance, Kuya Dan told the group to hold hands and sing “Purify Your People O God”. After that, there was a closing prayer by Bishop Leo Alconga, declaration of God’s sovereign authority over the church and the nation followed by seemingly endless and spontaneous hugging of one another affirming that, from that time on, the National leaders of the Body of Christ are now one!

It was a historic, miraculous and glory-filled Leaders’ Summit that cannot be forgotten in a lifetime! It was also a time when finally, the altar of unity is repaired and the fire of God’s cleansing came down to consume us and make us prepared for His coming glory!!! All the Glory and Honor to the Lord Jesus, the Head of the Church!!!
